Your Dashboard
The Dashboard is your home screen after logging in. It gives you an at-a-glance view of everything happening on your account — mutual matches, unread messages, joined communities, and your Trust Score.
- Welcome Banner — Shows your avatar, name, and profile completion percentage with a link to finish your profile.
- Stats Grid — Four clickable cards showing your mutual matches count, unread messages, communities joined, and Trust Score.
- Quick Actions — One-tap shortcuts to Discover People, Explore Communities, or Edit Profile.
- Announcements — Site-wide announcements and pinned notices appear at the top so you never miss important updates.
- My Communities — Visual grid of every community you've joined with quick-access links.
Discover People
The Discover page shows you one profile at a time in a swipe-style card layout. Profiles are ranked by a smart compatibility algorithm that weighs shared interests, communities, and prompts — not just photos.
- Photo Carousel — Swipe or tap through multiple photos per profile with progress dots and navigation arrows.
- Compatibility Score — A real percentage badge (e.g., "78% match") calculated from shared interests, communities, personality type compatibility, communication style, social energy, and relationship pace.
- Personality Badges — If a match has personality info enabled, see their MBTI type, communication style, social energy, and sensory preferences right on the card.
- Trust Badge — Each profile displays a color-coded Trust Score badge so you know how established a user is.
- Profile Prompts — Fun conversation starters ("Two truths and a lie", "A perfect Sunday looks like…") displayed right on the card.
- Shared Interests — Interests you have in common are highlighted in green so they stand out.
- Like & Pass — Two big buttons at the bottom. If both users Like, it's a mutual match and you can message each other!
- Review Passed — Changed your mind? Visit the "Passed" page to undo a pass and give someone a second look.
- Distance Indicator — If location sharing is enabled, see how far away someone is (e.g., "12 km away").
- Federated Profiles — Profiles from connected PlatypusMatch servers appear with a 📡 badge, expanding your dating pool across instances.
Profile — View & Edit
Your profile is how other users see you. PlatypusMatch profiles are rich and expressive — far more than just a photo and a name.
Viewing a Profile
- Photo Gallery — Full carousel of all approved photos with left/right navigation.
- Verified Badge ✅ — Checkmark if photo-verified.
- Trust Score Badge — Bronze → Silver → Gold → Platinum.
- Online Status — Green dot when active in last 5 minutes.
- Bio & Interests — Free-text bio plus tagged interests with shared-interest highlighting.
- Profile Prompts — Up to 3 Q&A conversation starters.
- Personality Badges — Color-coded badges showing MBTI type (indigo), communication style (blue), social energy (yellow), relationship pace (pink), and sensory preferences (green) — only if the user has opted in.
- ENM Badge — Purple badge with linked partner list.
- Location — City/state (optionally hidden for privacy).
- Block & Report — Accessible from any profile.
Editing Your Profile
- Photo Management — Upload up to 6 photos (JPEG, PNG, WebP; max 5MB). Drag to reorder, tap to set primary or delete. EXIF data auto-stripped for privacy.
- Display Name & Bio — Set a custom display name (2–50 chars) and a 1,000-character bio.
- Gender & Orientation — Choose your gender identity from an inclusive list, and select who you want to see in Discover (multi-select).
- Relationship Goals — Looking for long-term? Casual? New friends? Set it here.
- Match Preferences — Optional age range filters (min/max).
- Location & GPS — Enter city/state/country manually, or enable GPS for travel-aware matching. Your exact coordinates are never shown.
- Interests — Comma-separated tags (up to 10) used by the matching algorithm.
- Profile Prompts — Pick up to 3 conversation-starter questions and write your answers.
- 🧩 Personality & Preferences — Collapsible opt-in section: set your MBTI type (manually or via built-in quiz), communication style, social energy level, relationship pace, and sensory preferences.
- Personality Quiz — Don't know your MBTI type? Take a 20-question quiz right inside PlatypusMatch.
- Show Personality Toggle — Choose whether personality badges appear on your public profile and discover cards.
- Privacy Toggles — Control who sees your age, location, online status, and whether you appear in Discover.
- Emergency Contact — Encrypted name and phone number used by the Date Check-In system.
- ENM Settings Link — Quick link to manage your ethical non-monogamy preferences.
🧩 Personality & Compatibility
Go beyond photos and bios. PlatypusMatch includes a built-in personality system — based on MBTI-inspired dimensions — so you can see how you connect, not just that you match.
A quick 20-question quiz determines your MBTI type. No external sites, no copy-pasting — it's all right inside PlatypusMatch.
Once both users have a type, the matching algorithm uses established MBTI compatibility tables to generate a real percentage score.
Direct or Gentle? This dimension helps flag potential friction (or harmony) in how you and a match prefer to communicate.
Introvert, Extrovert, or Ambivert — so you can find someone whose social battery matches yours.
Slow & Steady, Moderate, or Fast — because mismatched expectations about pacing are a top reason dates don't work out.

Every personality feature is optional. Nothing appears on your profile or affects matching unless you choose to enable it.

How the Quiz Works
- Open Profile → Personality & Preferences.
- Tap "Take the Personality Quiz".
- Answer 20 agree/disagree questions (≈ 3 minutes).
- Your MBTI type is calculated and saved automatically.
- Toggle "Show on Profile" to display badges on your public profile and Discover cards.

My Photos
A dedicated gallery page where you manage all your photos. Every photo goes through moderator review before it becomes visible — keeping the platform safe and authentic.
- Upload & Preview — Drag-and-drop or click to upload. Supports JPEG, PNG, and WebP up to 5MB each.
- Moderation Status — Each photo shows Pending (yellow), Approved (green), or Rejected (red with reason).
- Primary Photo — Choose which photo appears as your avatar everywhere.
- Privacy — EXIF/metadata is automatically stripped from every upload.
Messages
Once you and someone else both Like each other, a conversation opens automatically. Messaging is only available between mutual matches — no unsolicited messages from strangers.

Full chat with color-coded bubbles, timestamps, and online status.
🚫 Unsend
Unsend any message within 5 minutes. Recipient sees "This message was unsent."

Set custom blocked keywords. Matching messages are auto-hidden with a reveal option.
🚫 Block User
One-click block from the chat header. Blocked users can't message you or see your profile.
⚡ Auto-Refresh
New messages appear automatically via polling — no manual refresh needed.

PlatypusMatch isn't just swiping — it's a social platform. Join topic-based communities to share posts, find like-minded people, and build connections beyond a profile card.
- Browse & Join — A grid of all communities with icons, descriptions, and member counts.

Safety Center
PlatypusMatch was built safety-first. From photo verification to a real-time date check-in timer, every tool is designed to protect you — especially on first dates.
🛡️ Date Check-In Timer
Set a countdown timer before meeting someone. If you don't tap "I'm Safe" before the deadline, your emergency contact is automatically notified.
- Set date/time, duration (1–6 hours), partner name, and location
- One-tap "I'm Safe" button
- Extend timer by 1 hour if date runs long
- Cancel anytime
- Requires an emergency contact in your profile
📸 Photo Verification
Prove you're real and earn a verified badge (✅). A random pose is assigned and you upload a selfie performing it. An admin reviews it for a match.

🔢 Trust Score System
Every user has a Trust Score displayed as a colored badge (Bronze → Silver → Gold → Platinum). Verified photos, community participation, and positive interactions increase your score. Being reported or flagged lowers it.
🚫 Keyword Blocklist
Create a personal list of words you don't want to see in messages. Matching messages are automatically hidden behind a warning — with an option to reveal if you choose. Your blocklist is completely private.
Ethical Non-Monogamy (ENM)
PlatypusMatch fully supports ethical non-monogamy with a three-tier opt-in system and linked partner verification. Dishonesty about relationship status results in a permanent ban.
Tier 1: None
Default. Not interested in ENM. You only see profiles of others not in ENM relationships.
💜 Tier 2: Open to ENM
Not currently in an ENM relationship, but open to it. You see both regular and ENM profiles — the broadest dating pool.
💜 Tier 3: Active ENM
Currently in an ENM relationship. You must link at least one verified partner on PlatypusMatch.
- Partner Linking — Search for your partner by email and send a link request. They must confirm.
- Relationship Type Labels — Polyamorous, Open Relationship, Relationship Anarchist, Swinging, or Other.
- Profile Badges — ENM status and linked partners are visible, building transparency.
- Pool Isolation — The matching algorithm respects ENM tiers. "None" users never see "Active" ENM users.
Account Settings
Full control over your account, privacy, and integrations — all in one place.
- Change Password — Requires current password. Enforces uppercase, lowercase, number, and symbol requirements.
- Incognito Mode 🕶️ — Toggle to hide from Discover. You can still message existing matches.
- Safety Tools Hub — Quick-access grid with links to Date Check-In, Photo Verification, Keyword Blocklist, and Safety Tips.
- Bluesky Integration — Connect your Bluesky handle to display your social feed on your profile.
- Delete Account — Permanent deletion with password confirmation and a clear warning.

PlatypusMatch is built with privacy by design. You control exactly what data is collected, can export everything, and can delete your account permanently — with full GDPR compliance.
- Consent Preferences — Opt in or out of analytics and marketing at any time. Every change is logged.

City Launch Map
PlatypusMatch launches city by city to ensure each community has enough members for a great experience. The interactive map shows every city's status.
